Get to Know Your Tires

Whether you use all-season, high-performance, mud, off-road, or winter tires that each have varied tread patterns to maximize traction and control in your most frequent driving conditions, some features are common to them all. Getting the appropriate size tire for your automobile entails several factors. Diameter is the distance across the center point of the tire. It’s measured from the edge of the tread pattern across to the other edge. Width is the distance across the tread pattern, and height is the sidewall measurement. When you compare the sidewall’s height to the tread pattern’s width, you can determine the aspect ratio. Tires also come in varying manufacturer’s warranty lengths.

Learn About Tire Analysis

When you bring your vehicle to Randy’s Automotive for tire repair, we’ll analyze the condition of your tire as well as the location and size of the puncture to see if the tire is a candidate for safe repair. The inclusion must be a puncture, not a cut, and can be no larger than a quarter inch. Cuts and larger punctures cannot be safely repaired. The area of the rupture matters, too. It should be within the tread pattern rather than in the sidewall. We’ll also check the general condition of the tire. If it is cracking, has insufficient tread depth left, or has been driven flat, we don’t repair it because it isn’t safe. Even though you don’t want a flat anytime soon, know that Randy’s Automotive is the shop you can trust. Call us for safe tire repair.
